Lovett Hall Wedding

I guarantee you, Julia and Gabe’s wedding at Lovett Hall is unlike anything you’ve ever seen! Just to give you an idea of their style, I’ll let you in on one of my favorite details. Instead of having a traditional bouquet toss at the wedding reception, Julia decided instead to toss a stuffed Pusheen! A lucky groomsman caught it, and you would’ve thought it was his birthday by the amount of excitement on his face!

But, don’t get me wrong. There were plenty of classy and elegant details thrown in the mix for Julia and Gabe at their Lovett Hall wedding. I’ve been lucky enough to work with Julia and Gabe from their engagement session, all the way up to their wedding. That process brought us so much closer than a typical client relationship and I am happy to now call them friends. It’s a funny thing, working with a couple for one of the biggest celebrations of their lives. You learn so much about each other that it forms this fun connection where you get to say things like “Hey remember on your wedding day….”!

I was sad to hear that shortly before their wedding, Julia and Gabe’s beloved cat, Beefcake, crossed the rainbow bridge. But, being the sweet people that they are, they found an adorable way to include him on their wedding day. So they had an oversized cardboard cutout made with Beefcake’s picture on it and hung it on their sweetheart's table at the reception. It was the sweetest thing! Later on in the night, they even brought it out onto the dance floor to give Beefcake a spin with his beloved pawrents.

Julia & Gabe’s Lovett Hall Wedding

Julia and Gabe were joined in marriage at Lovett Hall with a traditional Jewish wedding ceremony under the chuppah. Elements of their ceremony included the signing of the ketubah, a shared drink of wine from the kiddush cup, and the smashing of the glass. Once they were pronounced married, Gabe grabbed his bride and made a beeline for the aisle. It was the sweetest moment, overflowing with pure happiness and joy!

Lovett Hall is full of gorgeous light-filled locations for wedding portraits, so I knew it was going to be a good time working with Julia and Gabe after their ceremony. In addition to the gorgeous white-walled halls, Lovett Hall is also connected to The Henry Ford Museum. So I got to work with Julia and Gabe on some more light-hearted wedding portraits as well. Including a fun photo of the bride and groom going in for a newlywed kiss in front of the Oscar Meyer weenie mobile!

When it was time to hit the reception, I knew we were in for one hell of a party. Julia and Gabe made their grand entrance to “Gimmie! Gimmie! Gimmie!” by Abba. From there, Julia and her sister performed a choreographed karaoke routine to “What Dreams Are Made Of” by Hilary Duff (hairbrushes and all!). Then there was the traditional blessing of the challah to get dinner started. You can see all of these details and more when you scroll through the photos below!
